On 22 January 2016, a South Asia Conference on “The Role of Women with Disabilities in the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” was held in Islamabad. The conference provided a regional platform to discuss how women with disabilities can play a central role in shaping, implementing, and monitoring the SDGs, ensuring that disability inclusion remains integral to sustainable development.
The event was organised in collaboration with CBM, Sightsavers, South Asia Disability Forum, British Council, Special Talent Exchange Program (STEP), Aurat Foundation, Women’s Refugee Commission, and the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus. It brought together women with disabilities, policymakers, and civil society leaders from across South Asia to share strategies, strengthen regional networks, and advocate for inclusive development agendas. The conference reaffirmed the commitment of partners to advancing disability-inclusive SDG implementation and amplifying the leadership of women with disabilities at both national and regional levels
