The National Seminar on the Role of Women with Disabilities was organized by NFWWD in collaboration with Government of Pakistan (Directorate General Special Education, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, UNESCO and CHEF International in Islamabad. 100 people assembled including 50 women with disabilities from Balochistan, KPK, Punjab, Sindh, AJK and Islamabad, UNESCO, UNICEF, US Embassy, UN Gender Task Force, Aurat Foundation, CIDA, NGOs, INGOs, DPOs and ADTF. All key stakeholders joined hands to show the solidarity and peace and to support the rights of women with disabilities.
The objective of the seminar was to sensitize policy makers, Governmental, non-governmental, disabled people organizations (DPOs) and the private sector organizations on the importance of mainstreaming rights of women with disabilities into development initiatives as leaders.
The aim of the seminar was to invite participants to make concrete commitments to action and highlight initiatives to address key challenges in women with disabilities access to justice, and can work together to establish an inclusive society, where women with disabilities live with dignity, respect, and equality by enhancing inclusive education initiatives and to take on board the concerns raised by women with disabilities stakeholders and through building of inter-sectoral and cross-sectoral consensus and development the necessary linkages amongst various stakeholder to see the impact on the policy and programme decisions related to the development of women with disabilities programmes.
