On 21 April 2022, NFWWD participated in a capacity-building training in Peshawar for service providers on the localized module of the Essential Services Package for women with disabilities. The training brought together frontline actors from health, justice, and social sectors with the aim of strengthening their ability to deliver inclusive, accessible, and gender-responsive services. Participants explored the challenges faced by women with disabilities in accessing essential services, particularly in relation to violence, discrimination, and systemic barriers.
The training, organized in collaboration with UN Women, combined technical knowledge with practical exercises, including case studies and role-play scenarios. This approach enabled service providers to better understand the lived realities of women with disabilities and to identify practical solutions for making services more inclusive. The sessions also highlighted the importance of coordination across sectors and institutions to ensure that women with disabilities can fully exercise their rights and access protection, healthcare, and justice without exclusion.
By localizing the global Essential Services Package to the Pakistani context, the initiative underscored the need for policies and services that are both culturally relevant and aligned with international human rights standards. The training marked a step forward in building a stronger, disability-inclusive service delivery system and reaffirmed the commitment of stakeholders to ensure that women with disabilities are treated with dignity, respect, and equality in all areas of life.
